Dear Au Pair Letter:
Hello ! =)
We are not looking for an au pair but for someone who can help us to improve our English skills!
So that could be an amazing opportunity for you, if you want to be a part of a French family !
I’m Robert, and my wife is Séverine. We are both beginner in English ( we started taking classes in January 2009) so we are still learning basics things and we would like to have someone here for 2 months this summer.
We will expect from our “aupair” to be clean, serious, friendly, open-minded, energetic, organized, and ready be a part of our family (experience in teaching English would be a real advantage). We will also appreciate if you can speak a bit of French.
We do have English lessons from a qualified teacher once a week and we will need you to practice our English ( mostly conversation) on or two hours per days, every day.
We have two daughters, the oldest one, Sabrina is 21 and she doesn’t live with us anymore. She is studying international business in the UK, but she will probably be here some weeks this summer.
Marion, our second daughter is 15 years old and she is really friendly and independent.
She is studding English at school for 5 years now, but need to practice as well.
To resume, your job will be to :
- speak English with us 1 hour a day ( maybe 2 on the week ends)
- Spend time with Marion ( doing some activities together, watching movies… but everything in english !)
- Help us with the house cleaning things ( few hours per week)
- Spend some family time with us*
-/!\ you will be asked to talk almost ONLY in English with us and Marion in the daily life too. ( we really want to improve our English!)
We live in Homécourt, in the Lorraine region, in the noth east of France, close to Metz ( witch is the capital of Lorraine) and Nancy.
We are also really close to Luxembourg, Belgium and Germany.
We unfortunately don’t have a spare car for you but we have a train station 5 minutes walking from our place.
Transport network is really well developed in France and you can go everywhere by train or bus for reasonable prices (for example a train ticket to go to Metz from our place is 4 euros)
There is a cinema, a swimming pool, and a lot a nice stores in Joeuf , the citie just next to ours. (walking distance). Even though we also have nice stores in Homécourt !
We live near to the forest and we go running there every Sunday morning, you will be of course welcome to join us if you like to do some sport. We also practice scuba diving every Thursday evening, in the swimming pool of Joeuf. (Where you will be able come to swim for free during the time we have our training).
We’ve got a lovely Persian cat, Lilou. So we hope you like cats !
You must be aware that it is not a full time job as you will be busy only few hours per day, even if you will be welcome so stay with us when we are at home.
We can teach you the French cuisine, and do things with you when we are not working. ( I have my own company and I work from our place, as a real estate controller) and severine is a jeweller.
She has 2 days off per week and she likes to go shopping, visiting friends.. and you will be welcome to go with her if you like.
If you want to learn or improve your French, we can also help you with what by talking French with you sometime.
You will have your own bedroom, with an ilimity wireless access for internet.
Do not hesitate to contact us for any questions ! ( sabrina.pl@live.fr)
Hope to see you soon !
PS : Don’t forget what we want someone who can be fully integrate in our family !
A bientot !!
